Kennedy Re-signs
Kennewick, WA – Dennis Kennedy left his mark in 2011. He will hope to do the same in 2012. The versatile running back re-signed with the Tri-Cities Fever, making him the fifth player from last year’s Intense Conference championship team to commit to the upcoming season, and the first offensive player to re-sign.
Kennedy, who had a brief stint with the B.C. Lions of the Canadian Football League this summer, was a multi-dimensional threat on offense for the Fever. He was not only a hard, bruising runner out of the backfield, but also evolved as a reliable receiver.
“Dennis Kennedy is an explosive player that can run between the tackles and can catch the ball out of the backfield,” said Fever coach Adam Shackleford.
Kennedy (5-foot-9, 215 pounds) was one of the more reliable running backs in the Indoor Football League last season. In 11 regular season games, he rushed for 267 yards on 75 carries for 8 touchdowns. He also had 40 receptions for 307 yards and 9 touchdowns. The 40 receptions ranked him fourth on the team.
Kennedy had two memorable games last season for the Fever, both coming against the Kent Predators/Seattle Timberwolves. In late April, he ran for two touchdowns and had two touchdown catches in a 63-33 win against Kent. Two months later, Kennedy again scored four touchdowns in an 86-59 win over Seattle. In the win, Kennedy had eight rushes for 76 yards and 3 touchdowns and caught a team-high four passes for 58 yards and another score.
“His versatility and durability make him a great asset,” Shackleford said.
In other roster moves, the Fever also released defensive lineman Justin Adams (6-1, 260) and receiver Kevin Grayson (6-3, 215).
The Tri-Cities Fever, a member of the Indoor Football League, opens its eighth season at home on Feb. 25, 2012. For information about Fever season tickets contact the Fever office at (509) 222-2215 or visit us on line at www.tricitiesfever.com.
