Fever Camp Preview 2012 Quarterbacks

By curt

Kasey Peters and Herbert Bynes expect to be in a pretty close battle to earn a spot on the Tri-Cities Fever opening night roster February 25th against the Everett Raptors. Both quarterbacks are hungry and looking for their opportunity to one day play in the NFL or CFL. They think the first step in that direction will be making this year’s Fever roster. “That’s one of the big reasons I’m here,” said Peters. “Everyone told me this is a first-class organization and that it’s a great place to get film and move to the next level.” Peters (6-foot-3, 225 pounds), … Keep Reading »

Fever Camp Preview 2012 – The First Weekend

By curt

The first weekend of training camp came to a close Sunday night for the Tri-Cities Fever, ending a busy two days that included meetings, meals, and four practices. And after the first impressions of his training camp roster, Shackleford is actually a little surprised. “You see a lot of things on tape, but it’s another thing to see them in front of you on the field,” said the third-year coach. “We knew some of these guys were going to be good, but some are even better than we expected.” One of those players that has impressed early is receiver Giovanni … Keep Reading »

Fever Camp Preview DB’s 2012

By curt

The Tri-Cities Fever offense in 2011 was second to only one in the Indoor Football League. It was explosive, quick-hitting attack that beat teams with its speed and precision averaging 58 points per game. But while it seemed like the offense was scoring on every possession, it was a staunch defense that sometimes was overlooked. Last season, the Fever defense ranked in the top 10 in the IFL in most defensive categories, and a big reason for that were the plays of the defensive backs in the pass-oriented league. With training camp underway, the Fever will turn to a lot of new … Keep Reading »

Fever Camp Preview OL/DL 2012

By curt

It is no secret in the Indoor Football League, or any football league for that manner, that a lot of a team’s success hinges on the ability to protect the quarterback and the ability to pressure the opponents quarterback. Tri-Cities Fever coach Adam Shackleford is no different. “That’s where the games are really won and lost; up front,” he said. The Fever’s offensive line last season was one of the best in the IFL. The proof was in quarterback Houston Lillard’s numbers, who threw for more than 2,500 yards during the regular season and 65 touchdowns. However, the offensive line for the 2012 … Keep Reading »

Fever Camp Preview LB 2012

By curt

It’s really no mystery why Tri-Cities Fever coach Adam Shackleford wanted to re-sign linebacker Joseph Thornton. He is a versatile player who both rushes the passer as well as he drops into coverage, and played a huge role in the Fever’s playoff run last season. In four playoff games, he led the team and the entire IFL with 34 tackles, and added a sack. During the regular season, he finished fourth on the team with 49 tackles. That was in just eight games during season where he battled injuries. “He was a very important part of our defense,” Shackleford said. “We are expecting … Keep Reading »

Fever Camp Preview WR/RB 2012

By curt

Whitehead, Kennedy Lead List of Receivers, Running Backs There is little question that Houston Lillard made the Tri-Cities Fever offense go last season. But the humble Fever quarterback will quickly admit that a lot of his success hinged on guys around him making plays. And those guys were his receivers and running backs, all of which made highlight reel plays on a regular basis. Some of his favorite targets and biggest playmakers are back with the defending Intense Conference champions this season. But they won’t have to do it alone as coach Adam Shackleford littered his 2012 training camp roster … Keep Reading »

Fever OL Grows by 3

By curt

Fever sign 3 offensive linemen The Tri-Cities Fever and Coach Adam Shackleford continue to put the finishing touches on the 2012 training camp roster this week signing three offensive linemen. The Fever open training camp February 11th and they’ve signed Davion Wright, Adrian Brown and Lance Evbuomwan, bringing the roster total to 39 players. “Offensive lineman is the toughest position to fill,” said Shackleford. “But I think we have three good ones here.” Wright (6-foot-2, 330 pounds) played collegiately at Hampton University. Brown (6-foot-6, 340 pounds) went to the University of Delaware and spent time with the Buffalo Bills. Coach … Keep Reading »

Training Camp Just Around the Corner

By curt

The Tri-Cities Fever is less than a month away from their training camp which opens February 11th, and just over six weeks away from the 2012 season opener against Everett. As the dates quickly approach for the defending Indoor Football League Intense Conference champions, Coach Adam Shackleford figures he still has a little shuffling to do with his roster over the next few weeks. “I hope not too much,” he said. “We really like the group of guys we are expecting to bring in. We may make a few small moves depending on if some guys get picked up … Keep Reading »
